Bensonhurst/Bath Beach at a Glance
In Brooklyn, Bensonhurst means community – a quiet neighborhood filled with families. Once well known as the borough’s ‘Little Italy,’ recently, a report on city housing and neighborhoods by NYU’s Furman Center named Bensonhurst the most racially diverse neighborhood in New York City. There are many small businesses on Belt Parkway, 18th Avenue, and 86th Street. Bath Beach, Bensonhurst’s slightly smaller sister neighborhood, shares a vibrant commercial thoroughfare along 86th Street and a similar profile of residential homes and low-rise apartment buildings. The area is serviced by the D and N trains, as well as, several bus lines that run throughout Brooklyn.

Neighborhood Vibes
The streets of 18th Avenue and New Utrecht Street are filled with restaurants coming from all different backgrounds including Chinese, Russian, Mexican and Middle Eastern, and while it’s old nickname has worn out, the presence of Italian-Americans is still seen in Bensonhurst’s eateries and groceries. While the neighborhood doesn’t boast much of a nightlife, there are amenities such as parks and playgrounds and community centers to cater to the families in the area.
Santa Rosalia Feast
Named after the Patron Saint of Palermo Sicily, this feast brings locals together with carnival games, music, entertainment and most importantly, an array of delicious food.
